THE PARTIZAN TROPHY - Missing Most improved senior hammer thrower in Great Britain |
Whereabouts unknown, enquiries on going, it is approximately 2ft tall and it weighs in at around 20 lbs. This bronze statuette of a Yugo-Slav Partizan was presented to the British Amateur Athletic Board by the Partizan Club of Belgrade, during a British tour of the Balkans in 1951.
It was presented by the BAAB to the Hammer Circle in June1953, to be awarded annually to the most improved senior hammer thrower in Great Britain.
A member has indicated that after 1965 records of trophy recipients were not well kept, and this trophy and other items became 'lost'. Strangely there is a receipt made out to a member in 1985, it is unsigned. As the 1985 receipts for the other trophies exist fully signatured it would indicate that it is the 1984 recipient as the last known holder, but who was it?
